One Day Late.

As promised in the previous video post, Hot Wheels Finds-New Old Stock, I want to review the castings a little more closely. My morning of hunting began with dissappointment at Wally's. That store has not stocked Johnny Lightnings since last January. Not even a labelled peg to speak of, and Hot Wheels and Matchbox were just the same peg warmers. So off to Sears expecting to find even less. To my surprise and delight, hanging right out front on a peg was a '67 Camaro from the "Camaro" series released in 2007! The '67 Camaro is my favourite Hot Wheels Casting and I didn't have this release. A 5 spoke wheel variation was offered in that year as well, and that's still on my want list.

On another peg I found more new old stock, the '69 Camaro from 2008's "Hot Wheels Stars" series. I snatched this one up even though I already have a copy and I'm not a fan of the bumble bee paint scheme. I am considering opening one and trying my hand at a repaint and wheel swap.

Another surprise find was the Custom '53 Chevy in flat black with green and silvery blue flames, and the metallic red variation. The red one I have been looking for all summer, but the flat black I was not even aware had been released. It was a few days later after checking the South Texes Diecast guide page and reading the Hot Wheels Collector's forum, I learned the flat black was a Kmart, K Days collectors exclusive release. Now why would it be found in Canada at Sears? The day before I visited the store, Sears held their first Collector Days event . I wish I had known about it, I've read the local store had 16 cases to open and 11 people attend. My loss.
Then I stopped at Zellers, their diecast was on sale 25% off, but I oly picked up two castings. The Hot Wheels 3 window '34 Ford is one of the few Ford castings I like and is from the Hot Ones series. From Matchbox I bought the '78 Dodge Monaco police car. I usually don't collect police cars, but this one is really sharp in black and white with red on top; a classic sundae paint scheme.
